Hello MNGCA!
The director from "Inside Senior Living", a new documentary series being co-produced and distributed nationally by PBS North in Minnesota, reached out to us with a cool opportunity. They are looking for a genetic counselor who would be willing to go on camera and answer a few questions as an expert in the field, ideally a clinical GC with neurology or potentially cancer counseling experience. Below is the information they shared with us about the production. If you are possibly interested and/or have questions about the opportunity and if you would be a good fit, please contact Bill Cooper at producer@insideseniorliving.com for more information. Lastly, since not all Minnesota GCs are MNGCA members and active on the website forum, please feel free to share this information with any GC colleagues and friends who may be interested.
Best,
Katy (Vice Chair)
In the first season, we are featuring eight families and 4 of them are dealing with memory issues, dementia or Alzheimer's. Besides meeting the families, we provide resource connections and current information to families to help in decision making. It's an educational series on a public platform, So, we focus on non-profits, government entities and associations to provide information.
We would like to have somebody talk about the history of genetic testing, the pros and cons and resources. We have families dealing with both dementia and breast cancer.
The interview is professionally recorded with a small crew (6) and takes about two hours total. The location is your choice. We tend to go to an organization's offices or facilities. However, we can arrange a location in the Twin Cites area.
The potential shoot dates are:
Thursday, June 6 - afternoon
Friday, June 7 - morning or afternoon
Tuesday, June 11 - morning
Thursday, June 13 - morning
