Applying for a MN Genetic Counselor License
Genetic counselors are licensed in Minnesota through the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.
The MN Board of Medical Practice issues and renews licenses for genetic counselors. For convenience, we have links below to the initial application and required forms. Please contact the MN Board of Medical Practice directly with any questions, concerns or needs.

The license renewal cycle for licensees is on an annual cycle where renewal with the MN Board of Medical Practice is due on the last day of the licensee's month of birth.

Your online renewal is available through the MN Board of Medical Practice 2 months before your current license expiration date.

If you have not previously registered with the MN Board of Medical Practice, you will receive a renewal notice letter from the MN Board of Medical Practice with a security code.
